Many organizations have thousands of datasets in their data platforms, which means that getting the most out of the search filters is important. Once you've narrowed your search down, however, there may still be dozens, or even hundreds of dataset results.
The sort function helps users sort a filtered or unfiltered view of their data catalog by many different attributes, including creation date, activity pulse, utility, and most liked.
There are two tabs at the top of the sort popover. "Popular" sort functions are the ones most widely used. "All" includes additional sort functions such as sorting by recent comments, connection name, or connection url.
Selecting a sort option will sort the catalog results by that option. By default, this sort will rank ascending (smallest to largest; 0-9; A-Z). By selecting the sort a second time, you can toggle to a descending view of the same option (largest to smallest, 9-0, Z-A).
Step 1: Navigate to the data catalog page in the data platform. Select "search" from the sidebar. Here you will see all datasets in the platform that you have permission to see.
Step 2: Select the "Sort" button on the right of the screen. This will toggle a drop-down
Step 3: Review the list of popular sort options and select the option you want. If needed, select the option again to switch the sort from ascending to descending.
Step 4: Select the x or click anywhere on the screen to close the drop-down
